If they suffer from a chronic illness like Raynaud’s disease, you may be thinking that this makes it more difficult to buy something meaningful, but what better way to surprise them than to gift them something to help in difficult times. Helping them with what they suffer with, when they need it the most.

This gift guide for Raynaud’s sufferers will give you some ideas for gifts for people suffering from Raynaud’s phenomenon. These ideas will help them in the colder months.  They will take all of the help they can get, trust me!

What is Raynaud’s disease?

Raynaud’s disease is a common (although I’ve only met a couple of people with it) disease that affects your blood circulation.

Raynaud’s means that people get cold, easily, actually very easily.  They are always the one’s that remembers their gloves at all times.  You will notice that they are the ones who feel the cold first. When you have Raynaud’s disease and you get cold, your body has an overreaction to it and your blood vessels restrict more than they need to. This can be painful or at the very least very uncomfortable.

Toes and fingers are the most commonly affected and they can change colour to white or blue and become very numb and stiff!

In severe cases an attack can even be triggered by becoming anxious or stressed.

Still wondering if you should buy a gift to help someone with this?  I bet not! Let this gift guide for Raynaud’s sufferers help you out this year.

Gloves

The best way to stop an attack is prevention.  I do not go anywhere without my gloves in the autumn or the winter, once your hands get cold, it is so difficult to warm up again.

A good pair of leather gloves are essential for driving. A pair like this would be perfect.

A good thick pair of gloves are great for just about everything else.

Thin gloves

Thin fingerless gloves are so handy when some warmth is needed but you still need freedom and range of motion for everyday tasks.  These are also great for a light compression so if arthritis is also a problem, these can help.

Good socks

Never underestimate the power of a good pair of socks!  Seriously, good socks are a must for Raynaud’s sufferers.  Nothing feels worse than sore, cold, numb feet!  I totally understand that when normal shoes are worn, normal thickness socks are needed.  But for winter walks or under boots a good pair of thick thermal socks are heaven.

Slipper socks

This one is self-explanatory.  The need for comfort and warmth when indoors is huge.  Being indoors does not stop attacks.  If feet are left to get cold, attacks do happen.  Slipper socks will help to prevent this from happening, and I just feel that they are such a cute present.

Heat pads

These are an absolute must for me and I highly recommend them.  I am never without these in the colder months.  Popping them into my pockets on a night out is heaven and sometimes I will even pop them inside my gloves when I’m out walking.  I never regret it.

If you want to upgrade or want a gift that is a little, well, more, then these are also fantastic.  A little bigger so not as easy to carry around but the obvious benefits are that they are reusable and stay warm for ages.  A real winner in my book, and a great gift.

Electric blankets

This will change lives!  Ok, maybe that is a little dramatic but when you are cold, a lot, going to bed can be tricky.  When the bed is cold and it takes ages to heat up, drifting off to sleep isn’t an option.  I had an electric blanket as a gift and it was a game changer, it makes the bed toasty for bedtime and it makes drifting off to sleep so easy.

The great thing about this one though is that it is dual controlled.  Which means if you share a bed with someone who does not feel the cold, like my husband, they do not have to sweat all night.  So my side goes on and his stays off, perfect.  It is even zoned so you can have the bottom half of your zone, warmer than the top.  Perfect for cold toes!

I cannot recommend this enough.

Thermals

Thermals have come a long way since the cream long johns you are all conjuring up in your minds right now!  These extra base layers are so helpful in colder climates.  A perfect gift for a person who feels the cold.

I really hope this helps with your Christmas preparation.

Happy shopping!
