This recipe is quick and simple and so versatile. They can be used as wraps for a healthy lunch. Or for fajitas for a great dinner. You can put them in the oven to crisp up for tacos, or use it for a pizza base. You can even cut them into little triangles and put them under the grill to make tortilla chips!
What is chickpea flour?
Otherwise known as gram flour or garbanzo bean flour. Basically it is ground up dried chickpeas and a great substitute for wheat flour. One huge plus is that it is really cheap, unlike some gluten free flour alternatives.
Is chickpea flour healthy?
Chickpea flour is a healthy alternative to the ordinary white all purpose flour everyone uses.
- It is high in protein
- High in fiber
- Low in carbs
- low in calories
- Contains anti-inflammatory properties.
- Is good for your heart
Why flax seeds?
Firstly flax seeds are an excellent plant based source of omega 3’s and for this reason I add them to everything I can. Secondly tortillas can stick to the pan, this wonder ingredient stops that from happening and gives them a wholemeal look too for aesthetics.
How to store chickpea flour tortillas
These tortillas can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days, I separate them with baking paper, wrap them in some cling film and them put them in a zip lock bag for freshness and to stop them from drying out. Alternatively you could freeze them in the same way for up to 4 months.
How to reheat
Your can easily re heat the tortillas if you wanted to for meals like fajitas for example. Either heat them gently in a frying pan or a skillet for a minute or so each side or pop them in a medium oven for 5 minutes to heat through.
